Well, I paid the landlord all I could today but I'm still short on the rent and they're not pleased. Basically, I've bought myself a few days until they start trying to evict me again. Which is, you know, just wonderful. Still haven't found a job. My unemployment is going to be running out next month, I think. Things are not good in Edland.

Commissions, I know I said I would not accept commissions until the ones I have are done but, desperate times and all that. I am now taking commissions as long as you understand that the ones I have already will be done first. This means any commissions I get now will likely not be done until January. If you'd like something larger and more elaborate we can work out a price.

I was doing OK for a bit there but a combination of massive depression and time off work due to a foot injury has left me ridiculously broke. How broke? Well, I just got back from scraping together enough to get the power back on and right next to me here is an eviction notice from my landlord if I don't pay rent in the next couple days.

Color Print

I've got a new color print for sale. Ain't she cute? The white hair and layout of the print, small image in the center, is inspired by a print I have from the very talented Ronnie Del Carmen. The copyright text in the image above is not on the actual prints.

Each print is hand signed, comes in a protective plastic sleeve with cardboard backing and comes with an original pencil sketch of the girl from the print. No two sketches are the same. The print measures 8.5 x 11 inches.

The print is only $10, sketch and all. Shipping is by first class mail and is $1 within the USA, $2 to Canada, $3 to Mexico, $4 everywhere else.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm in pretty dire straits financially. I'm hoping these might sell and help me out a bit. Financial situation

Just wanted to let everyone know what's been going on with me lately.

As a lot of you know, I've been out of work for several months. I've been selling things online here: http://www.atomicpanda.com/omgsale.html to try to make ends meet. It's been a losing battle. It's kept me afloat for the most part and I appreciate everyone's help.

Well, I'm at my lowest point now and really could use some sales or there's no way I'll make June's rent let alone pay the bills I currently have. It really does not help that my car registration is due this month (around $150) as is the bill to renew my web hosting ($100). Then there was the $250 bullshit traffic ticket that the cop even admitted was bullshit when he was giving it to me. Nothing I could do, his word verse mine. I'm just wiped out and flat broke.

But, there is something like a light at the end of the tunnel. I do have a job now. I'm not going to lie, it's pretty crappy and minimum wage. But, it's better than nothing. Thing is, they've been incredibly slow getting me to work. They claim I'll get plenty of hours once I'm trained. However, despite being hired last month, I've worked there a total of twice this month, two hours each time. That is NOT going to cut it this month. Next month I'll be getting more hours, I've been told. So, at least next month I'll have some income. Not nearly enough to be out of the woods but a hell of a lot more than now.

So, it's good news and bad news. If you could please spread the word. It's looking like this whole situation is slowing getting better but right now and though the end of this month and the start of June I'm more desperate than I've ever been.

Five years, five years after I drew the girly version of the Spirit Mars rover (http://atomicpanda.com/galimage09.html) I've started on Opportunity or "Oppy" as JPL refers to her on the MarsRover Twitter account they've set up.

Spirit and Opportunity pretty much got their personalities from the two LJ accounts that pretended to be by the two rovers way back when. Neither is still updated. Five years is a dang long time to write a pretend rover journal, especially since the rovers were only supposed to last 90 days. Spirit came across as more, I dunno, angsty (she had a harder time than Opportunity) and Opportunity more perky. So, I dressed her more... I don't know if 'prepy' is the right term but a lot less Hot Topic than Spirit. Also thought I'd throw in a slight nod to Botticelli.

Anyway, think I might ink it in Flash. Been meaning to practice doing that. Or, I dunno. Maybe I'll do it traditional so I have something I can sell. Heck, both?

Two part commission done! Took longer than I'd have liked but at least it's finished and I can get on to the next thing.

Each half is around 30 x 11 inches. The person who ordered it, I'm sure, didn't think they'd be this size but I wanted to do something special.

It's marker, watercolor and acrylic on thick, rag watercolor paper. Stuff was murder on markers. Hope he likes it. 'Course, this means I have room for another commission if anyone is interested.

This is art by Chris Sanders (Chrissandersart.com alohalilo on Deviant Art). I only did the colors.

I debated about posting this for a long while. It seems that coloring his work is something the artist encourages. But, I've never actually heard back from him. I really, really do not like doing anything with anyone else's art without their clear say so, but this time, since so many people have colored his work with only positive reactions from him, I'm going to take the chance that it's OK.

I will, of course, take it down if he decides he doesn't want it up.

There is the possibility that the alohalilo DA account isn't really him. Since almost all the art there is art that can be found in Chris Sanders' art books, there is no link to his site and the email listed is different from the email address at Chrissandersart.com, I have some doubts. The only thing that seems to prove it's legit, to me, is that it's been around so long, if it were fake, some one surely would have told him by now.

So to recap, the art wasn't done by me. I just did the colors.

Did what I thought would be a quicky sketch of Eureka from Eureka 7. Wound up spending way too much time on it. Sad part is, it's not even very good. So many flaws. Plus, I messed up on coloring it half way though and didn't notice until it was too late to do anything about it.
Oh well, better luck on the next piece. I might put the original pencils and inks up on my Etsy store today or tomorrow.
